Last fall, we visited Lost Maples, and our kids (ages 5 and 8) had a blast! It’s the perfect mix of fun activities for kids and stunning views/hiking for adults.

The ranger-led activities are geared towards youngsters and are super engaging. And there are plenty of short trails (both paved and not) with lots to look at along the way – caves, beautyberry bushes, cool rocks, clear creeks, etc.

Even our 5 year old could manage most of the hike up to Turk’s Cap outlook – one of the best views in the park! We also loved camping at Lost Maples. There are tons of great sites to choose from and plenty of room for kids to explore.
